8th November 2022 Held on Zoom online

The Trials Committee of the Scottish Auto Cycle Union invite all riders and club officials to online Zoom meeting at 7.00pm on Tuesday 8th November 2022.

This will be our second Open Forum to meet the Trials Committee, and discuss how trials are run in Scotland. The concept is such that we will have a zoom meeting and allow anyone with an interest in trials come along and join in a discussion or put forward ideas for discussion.

This is an idea proposed by one of our member clubs which we wish to embrace to try to help promote and progress our sport.

AGENDA

1. Classic championship

a. Have less rounds?

b. Have championship dates some time away from big events?

c. Reduce Number of Classes?

d. Cancel the Classic Championship?

 2. Premier championship

a. Should Scottish championship rounds await British round dates and avoid clash – Pros – dates are chosen to suit clubs and possibly majority of riders. Cons – lose top riders and maybe 10% to 20% of youth entrants

b. Rounds to be spread throughout the year – no back-to-back weekends – aim for 1 per month April to October – clubs need to buy in

c. Should we schedule a reserve date for premier championship so if any is cancelled, the reserve date is called up. Just so it is on calendar and avoiding dilemma

3.  Should we allow a Two- day trial be eligible to be a round of either Premier or Classic championship

4. Similar but different is should we allow two One-day trials at same venue on a single weekend to be eligible to be rounds of either Premier or Classic championship

5. Can we make better use of Social media for advertising of events

6. Explain make up of cost of entry includes permit fees, insurance, toilets hire, caterers, landowners

7. Proposal from Previous Open Forum for CoC cards renewals – suggestion to have experienced “old-heads” not needing certified as regularly – to be discussed further

8. Review of 2022 Team Trial and format with two routes and 3 riders per team/no compulsory observer.

9. Should lowest round score continue to be dropped from championships

10. Anything else can be added in addition to having AOCB
