Our established Social Enterprise has been successful in our application to offer a Community Bonds Investment Opportunity. This unique (first in Fife) opportunity will be processed through Scottish Community Finance, who are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority - FCA. The investment is a secure investment, guaranteed by the National Lottery and the return at 1.5%, you’ll know is currently better than the banks. The good thing about investing is that your fund has significant community benefit as your investment grows.
We are looking to use the funds to make our facility at Cardenden Motocross Track better. This will Include Motocross, Trials and Enduro. We also have Training for children and young people, i.e. educational programmes for reducing anti-social behaviour, improving mental health and increasing employability skills - supporting a route out of poverty. Our structured programmes tend to focus on SiMD areas of significant deprivation, such as Levenmouth and CowdenGelly. Over recent years our joint intervention with Improving Levenmouth Together has dramatically reduced incidences of anti-social behaviour, by a huge 70%.
Our reach goes further, not just working with children and young people, but with adults who are affected by illness, disability, long-term health conditions and more recently those affected by Mental Health. Recently, one person who we supported back into Trials riding won the National 2 Day Trial in Shetland, he only has one hand. Another is riding motocross who is amputated from the shoulder. This week, we hosted an amazing event in partnership with National Charity Speed of Sight, participants who drove round our track in off-road buggies had varying degrees of disabilities, one young lad had no legs, another blind and deaf etc... it was so so inspiring. We have scheduled another event for next year, bigger and better.
