What is Supermoto?
A Supermoto (French for 'superbike') is basically
the biggest two stroke of four stroke single cylinder Motocrosser
/ Enduro bike you can afford, stripped down & converted
for extreme street/shale use... and jumping stuff.
Supermoto - How do I get Started?
If you would like to try this exciting and new sport join
a club already organising Supermoto events as a first choice
(see clubs page). If this it not possible
join any club affiliated to the SACU so that you can get a
competition licence.

Speak to riders in the class

Join a Club either one that is close to
you (they may have a Social Side) or one that runs Road
Race events |

Go and get an Eye test you will require
this. For your licence |

Decide on the Class you want to compete
in and make sure your bike complies |

Find out about Novice Training this has
been happening since 2000 |

Prepare your budget for racing |
| • |
Make sure your machine complies with the
Class you are entering |

Apply for your Club membership and ask
for a Licence |

Contact the Clubs you are intending to
race with to organise entry forms |

Make sure these are returned in time -
two weeks before the event |

Follow your final instructions and enjoy
your racing |

| COMPETITION CLASSES |

450 - up to 450cc solo motorcycles, single
or twin-cylinder, two or four-stroke |

- up to 750cc solo motorcycles, single or twin-cylinder
two or four-stroke |

Junior
- 15 to 18 years of age on the January 1st of each year
- solo motorcycles, single-cylinder up to 200cc two stroke
or 250cc four-stroke |

COMPETITION LICENCES |

| All Competitors must have an
appropriate Licence issued by their National Federation,
which must be affiliated to the FIM, or UEM for Supermoto. |

All competitors must be at least 15 years
of age |

SACU Road Race and Motocross licence holders
are automatically eligible for a Supermoto Licence on
application |
| PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
& EQUIPMENT |

Helmet, visor, leathers, gloves, boots,
identification disc, back protector and fire retardant
undergarments as per the Road Race Technical Regulations
except as noted below. |

- Two part, robustly zipped together, leathers
are permitted |

- Motocross style boots are permitted |
| |

advice from established riders and club officials and
